art vs. capitalism
i feel like working my day job has been a way for me to sidestep the issue of dealing with capitalism's involvement in artistic / creative pursuits, and i'm comfortable with that. but i don't want to work for other people indefinitely, but the idea of monetizing my creative pursuits also sounds sort of soul crushing. will need to find some middle ground.
art vs. capitalism
i have a lot of conflicting feelings about the interactions between money and artists and quote unquote "content" and commercialization. (and this extends to the "free software" conversation and the idea of intellectual property too.)
i haven't really voiced any of them publicly because it seems nearly impossible to have a discussion that doesn't dissolve into essentialism and finger-pointing. (i.e. the whole nft conversation, etc)
found a version for sale here https://thenewbridgeproject.com/product/why-publish-noise-miekal-and/
i burned my fingerprints off while having too much fun bleaching clothes with @andrei_jay with no gloves on and now my fingerprint reader doesn't recognize me and every time i get my hands wet everything feels weirdly slimy
Distribution Religion by Dan Sandin (1978).
Instructions on how to build a modular video synthesizer.
Read the first three pages of this and tell me it's not a hippy alternate history free [soft/hard]ware licence.
Then just enjoy the literally cut, copied and pasted hand annotated document until you've had your fill.
"Put in your own method of returning energy to me here"
another one ... the phase space text i made before, mapped to polar coordinates and combined with a video feedback mandala by @andrei_jay
we have had users on our instance getting spam DMs from bot accounts on mas.to and mastodon.online. is there anything one can do to help prevent this sort of thing? i've been silencing the individual accounts when they are reported, but it seems like that doesn't do much to solve the underlying issue.
